Winged Bean

I found this winged bean seeds from Giant... So, I have decided to plant them as I like eating them too... They taste great with sambal chilli! Yum! So far, I think none of my neighbours are growing it so it will be good to grow them and share too....

One pack cost slightly less than S$2 and there are only 7 seeds inside! Wow, that's expensive... I hope all 7 seeds can germinate....

Instructions say grow them apart by 1 metre!! Really???? Hmm.... Initially I planned to grow 4 of the seeds... guess now I gotta cut down to 2... It takes 10 weeks (about 2.5 months) to harvesting..... That's pretty long.... I intend to grow them next to my pumpkin... I gotta build another trellis to let them climb... I read too that all beans grow well with melons... as the beans' roots can give out nitrogen into the soil which is good for the soil... nitrogen is good for the leaves! Instead of germinating in the egg containers (which I normally do), I think I will just drop into the soil directly (as I am going away and no one will help me to water the seeds daily)..... Hopefully, it will germinate by the time I come back from my holidays!!!!
