Ma Ni Cai - Blooms!

Surprised to find blooms on my Ma Ni Cai! I haven't even harvested before my first lot of Ma Ni Cai and they are blooming.. Guess, will harvest some to eat next week or so...

Footprints of a Farmer

LOL... hot sun everyday... tanned arms and legs!!! Plus scratches and scars!! :-) ... beauty and farmwork just doesn't belong to each other!

Bamboo

There is this Indian gardener in my estate whom I called him 'Handsome' (he is quite good looking :-)), he has been providing me with cut bamboos to build my trellises. This morning, he cut a bunch of them for me! So thankful!
I used about half of them to build another trellis. Borrowed a plot from my neighbour to build this trellis so that I have space for my OLD CUCUMBER to climb.. I am proud of this new trellis as I didn't use many tie strings to put them together!
More farm work awaits me tomorrow!! Transplanting my old cucumber seedlings and my 2 watermelon seedlings....

Papaya Leaves

Papaya leaves can cure dengue!! I read it somewhere online but the other day, it was confirmed! 6 big papaya leaves will give about 2 teaspoons of juice.... must be bitter! Sure hope I will not have to drink this concoction! LOL ... But then again, wonders of nature!!! Natures provide so many remedies for us when we are ill!

Powdery Mildew

Melons are so susceptible to powdery mildew! Wonder if its due to the high humidity levels! All types are melons (cucumbers, honeydews, winter melons, pumpkins....)

Winter Melon

Aiyo.. so many hopes dashed!! Wondering why it is so difficult to fruit...

Dragonfruit

The stem cut from Hillview looks still the same .. no sign of new life .. no sign of decay either! LOL
As for the ones grown from seed, one of them is segmenting itself.. Still grown in the pot as I have no where to grow them right now!!

Grapevine

Slowing climbing its way up....

Harvest Today 24 Oct

Harvested my kang kong! A bit too old though.... Saw a few flower buds on the kang kong.. Too bad!

Carrot

Plonked a carrot head into the ground yesterday morning! Just wanna see if it will grow!! It won't grown another carrot for sure but at least if it grows, I can see some carrot blooms & collect its seeds!!

Rosemary - Blooms!!

Wow was pleasantly surprised when I saw my rosemary bloom! Cute little white flowers!

Harvest Today 23 Oct

Plenty of Roselle!! Can make jams for giveaways again!

Curry Leave Plant

I have a neighbour who is SIMPLY obsessed with growing curry leave plants!!! There are just so many of them growing around the garden and he is still growing them!! As for me, I have been secretly chopping them off!! Hahahaha...

Spring Onion

Plenty!! I grew them to produce shallots and spring onions! They grow well in partial shade so this spot is just nice for them!

Mealy Bugs!

Argh! They infest my papaya tree in just a short 5 days!! They can literally kill the papaya tree if left on their own... Sigh

Weeds!

Sigh, they grow faster than any of my vegetables and fruits!!!

Kang Kong

My kang kong grew so much in just 5 days!! Time to harvest again!

Old Cucumber Seedlings

Wow so many of them sprouted!!! I tried sowing old cucumber seeds from the packet of seeds that I bought from the market and NOTHING came out... This batch of seeds is from the Old Cucumber that I bought from the market... decided to try my luck and apparently, too much luck!! LOL

Watermelon Seedlings

Threw in some watermelon seeds into the soil (from the watermelon that I ate!) and out came 3 seedlings!! Hmmm.... need to find a place for them!

Bittergourd

Growing growing & growing!! It became so big just after 5 days!!

Kota Kinabalu

Look, I bought more seeds again!! Just can't resist buying seeds when I am on holiday!! The seeds are so cheap!! 40cents for a pack!! Well, who can resist right? LOL
I found the longest pandan leave I have ever seen here!! At least double the size of what we have in our market! Giant indeed!
Guess what?! I found passion fruit being sold at RM3 per piece!! Wow, super ex!! I can be a rich woman selling my home grown passion fruit here!!
Many many fruit trees!!! I so wanted to buy and bring them all home!!
Fruits and vegetables are so fresh in this Gaya Street Sunday Market!! Look at the lemongrass - as if they have just been pulled up in the morning!! I just look wondering around such farmer's markets!!
I wonder how are my fruits and vegetables doing back at home?! Hope they are fine!!

Bittergourd

Growing bigger each day! Wah..

Harvest Today 17 Oct

I should have picked the winged bean yesterday!! Today, it tasted too old!!

Passion Fruit

2 more ripening soon... this is from the 2nd batch...
Some unkind souls picked 1 of my passion fruit the other day.. I was quite upset as I was filled with such great anticipation and why would someone picked it????? Hmmm.... So I decided to tag each of my passion fruit... and if it is lost again, then I will have to put up a sign to warn those unkind souls....

Long Beans Green

Wow, this is a record! 4 in a single stalk simultaneously!

Neigbhour's Bananas

Haven't taken a close look at growing bananas before!

Bittergourd!

Yes, a little bittergourd appeared this morning... guess it appeared much earlier (just not spotted!).... This batch seems to be female flowering faster than the 1st bittergourd plant that I had.. Hopefully, it will be successful!!

Pineapple

Plonked another pineapple into the plot - with my cucumbers, bittergourd & edamame.... The middle section seems like a wasted spot so decided to plonk a pineapple.... hopefully it will be ok

Papaya

Yes yes yes! Still growing!! Lotsa hopes! They are not growing as fast as my neighbour's local papayas though...

Flash Floods!

Yes, sudden heavy rain can cause flash floods in the plots!

Winged Beans -3rd lot!

The 3rd lot of winged beans coming alive! Yes! So far, have seen 2!

Green Long Beans

Highly productive long beans green!! The other lot that I grew next to the wall with much lesser sunlight doesn't grow as well! Only goes to show SUN SUN SUN!

Coconut Husk

I found a wonderful way to recycle those coconut husk (do you call it husk?? hmm).... I holed it in the middle and used it as a protection for my seedlings..!

Capsicum Seedling

1 of the 2 capsicum seedling which I transplanted to my plot upstairs has been eaten up by slugs! Argh... Hopefully this sole one will survive

Neighbour's Banana Tree

Finally it blossomed, after more than 8 months or more!

Harvest Today 11 Oct

Finally, my first chiku has ripened! The chiku smell was strong when I plucked it from the tree!
