More stuff in my new plot
This morning, I transplanted more stuff into my new plot... 1 tomato, 3 chillis and 3 brinjals!
With my experience from the first plot, I find that I am doing much better this time with the raised bed.... I dug a trench in the middle so that I can load in some compost and then topped off with mixed soil. The trench will allow the mixed soil to stay in position and not flow off whenever I water or whenever it rains. The mixed soil covering the compost will also prevent the growing of little worms! Yucks! Also I got to go find some dried leaves to mulch it ... so that the soil will stay cool and moist!!
Pumpkin in new plot
Transplanted my pumpkin seedlings yesterday in the late afternoon.... they were drooping a little after I transplanted them.... The weather was super hot!! And after that, I was so worried that they will die off from heat exhaustion!!! OMG... I kind of regretted transplanting them in the afternoon!!! I kept looking at the sun.. hoping it will set very soon!! LOL
This morning, I went back to check and I am happy to report that they are doing just fine!!!
So happy!!!

Chye Sim Day 24
Very soon, my chye sim can be harvested to be eaten!! Yum Yum....nothing beats home grown fruits & vegetables!
I re read the instructions... it says it will be ready for harvesting in 35 days! wow another 11 days to go!!!!
New Plot!
Super happy! I tilled my new plot, put in new compost & top soil... built a trellis and now it is ready to be planted! Hooray!
The weather is super hot!!! Toiling under the sun is really no joke!!! I am breathless just under 5mins, putting in the soil this afternoon.... OMG, can die of heat stroke man....... but at least, I am happy now that my little seedlings will have a place to call HOME!

Chilli padi
Not sure why but my chilli padi plant's leaves are turning yellow one by one... It is still flowering & fruiting ... but leaves turning yellow is quite a miserable sight... Perhaps not enough fertiliser? So I put on home made fertiliser that my mom gave me (she made from mixing pineapple skin & garden soil and then letting it ferment) around the plant.. hopefully that will help to green the leaves!!!
New farming plot
Hooray, I got another plot to farm my fruits & vegetables!!! Just went to till the land .. I am going to make another trellis for the pumpkins ... and perhaps another one to stack... yeah!!! So looking forward..... I haven't got time to take a picture but will do so later today and post picture tomorrow!!
Garden's bountiful from my neighbours
Today, my kind neighbours gave me some vegetables from their garden plots!! Wow, just looking at them is satisfying enough! The cucumbers are really strong & sturdy - seems that it is just harvested! They feel so different from those that you buy from the market somehow!!!
Thank you, my neighbours for a few days' supplies of vegetables!!!
My neighbour's pumpkin
My neighbour's pumpkin is bearing fruit!! Wow, so nice...
Look at the big beautiful flower of the pumpkin!! The pumpkin is the same as the melons .. they have male/female flower... only the female will bear fruit .. it is interesting to note how they grown into the fruit!! New knowledge everyday!
Honeydew
My honeydew is growing steadily.. Yuhoo! But the other one that is beside this one, is not really growing that well..... it is still about the same size (or maybe it has shrunk as it looks smaller today!) ..... I was wondering if it was due to the way I tied the string.. So, today, I changed it to the same way as the other 2 ... hopefully it will grow bigger tomorrow!!!

Sunflower
My sunflowers are doing well enough.. growing little by little each day.. Wonder how long it takes to bloom!
The seeds do not come with a cover so there was no instructions whatsoever...
Honeydew
The biggest honeydew fruitlet is growing heavily and bigger that it is beginning to touch the ground. So I had to use a string to tie it to lift it off the ground today. I hope I am not doing more harm than good to it.... If it continues to grow, it means that it is okay .... the other 2 that I hanged seems ok....
The above is the unhanged version. Below is the hanged version.
I think piling on mixed soil helps to prevent small worms and millipedes (I killed 4-5 of them today! Yucks!).. I wanted to pile on some on my honeydew seedlings but I forgot to bring my disposable gloves.. guess will have to do it later today or tomorrow morning.... bear with me, little seedlings!
Trellis
Yesterday I was youtubing about building trellises for pumpkins and I chanced upon a video on My Square Foot Garden... interesting how they build trellis to grow climbers in order to do space saving... And guess what! I saw the exact replica of the trellis on the video on my neighbour's cucumbers this morning!! LOL
This trellis, by right, can stand on its own 2 legs.. my neighbour's supported at the top as well. I guess if you drill the poles deep enough, it should be able to hold it. The one that I saw on the video is using wire conduit? Not sure what is that as it is based in US. I guess we can use the same - the bamboo version instead. I would need to get some nylon strings to start building one.... But, where to plant my pumpkin?? Hm.... need to look for a place.....
By the way, the video that I saw, there are so many hanging pumpkins on the trellis! Its amazing..... space saving indeed and you can keep the pumpkins clean too!!

Chye Sim Day 22
I spotted a little worm today & I gotta killed it! Sorry ya!! I prefer to eat my vegetables than you worms getting to them! LOL
I piled on mixed soil yesterday in the hope that they will kill the little worm.... I hope it helps.... will see if I can see any tomorrow morning...
Pumpkin!
Pumpkin seedlings sprouted but I have no place to grow them.... Sigh!!
On the left are pumpkin seedlings and on the right are others like chilli etc... Look how BIG the pumpkin seedlings are compared to the others...! Even the honeydew seedlings are not as big as the pumpkins!!
The pumpkin seedlings are grown from the pumpkin that I brought back from Cameron Highlands... super sweet pumpkin... hopefully I will have a place to grow them very soon...... will have to start my positive thinking in this direction .. laws of attractions right? Yeah!
Honeydew
Yup, my little honeydews are getting bigger every day! Yup... definitely receiving the positive energies that I have been transmitting to them every single day! LOL
I do notice little bumps appearing on the surface of the honeydew... hopefully it is nothing serious... I piled on mixed soil to honeydew big sister yesterday.. hopefully it can help to get rid of some pests! There are a lot of ants walking around.....
Today I noticed something about honeydew big sister too. A bunch of flowers appearing as above picture... Usually the flowers will appear one by one along the stem.. but today is the first time, I noticed a whole bunch of them! Cute as usual
Another thing I noticed too.... some discoloured flowers are appearing .. like the one above.. Those earlier flowers are all in full bright yellow but I have started noticing today... a few flowers are in white spots.... hope it is not a sign of something bad....
In order to give some support to the growing honeydews, I tied a string to the supporting trellis to hold some of the weight... I hope I am in no way strangling them!! LOL

Papaya
Yup I have grown 2 papaya seedlings ... my helper throw a whole bunch of seeds into the soil and so many of them sprouted.. initially I was wondering what seedlings there were... as I was unsure, I just plucked them off and threw them one side, thinking they are probably weeds.... And one day, I saw 1 seedling beside my sunflower and the seed of the papaya is still intact. That's when I realised that they are papaya!!
Here they are in the plot, beside Sunflower Big Sister!
I piled on some mixed garden soil that I bought from Far East Flora yesterday... hopefully they will grow fast fast ya!! I will be sending positive energies to all the plants in the plot!!
Brinjal
Little brinjals are doing well so far in the plot... the stems are turning a bit purplish now... confirmed for me that they are really brinjals! funny right? Because I remembered seeing their purple stems when I was in Cameron Highlands so I was very sure I am supposed to see it purple... so finally they are turning purple.... yeah!
I wanted to do more mulching for my little brinjals... but there just isn't enough of the dried leaves for me to take.....
Honeydew Big Sister!
Back to honeydew big sister!! She is going everywhere now! And guess what!!!! Super excited about this.... 2 quite big fruitlet appeared... these 2 in particular have been growing quite consistently everyday! Wow... me gonna have honeydew to eat soon!!! Yum yum... just can't wait for them to grow big & harvest them!!! I am into Buddhism (somewhat) these days... so everyday, I am giving positive energy to the 2 fruitlets!! hahahaha
I noticed more & more walking creatures on honeydew big sister - big sized ants, ladybird, some strange looking catepillar, small tiny slugs, millipedes, small little worms, etc etc... I used the Tree Of Life on honeydew big sister too.. hopefully it will help to control them .. and I am hoping honeydew big sister is not too affected by all these walking creatures!!!
On a side note, 2 of my little honeydew seedlings died.... I think both due to the little worms eating the roots... sad.....RIP
Chye Sim Day 20
I have been so busy that I did not have the time to blog about my farming for 2 day! Well, horrors of horrors, 1 of my chye sim got eaten up by some small tiny little worm!! I was so sadddddddddddd when I went to the plot yesterday morning and saw one of them lying on the side... I digged into the soil a little and found many tiny little worms near the root areas.... oh my gosh! Thereafter, I was so distracted the whole time, thinking what I should do to get rid of them before the rest of my chye sim suffer the same fate!
So I decided to drop by Far East Flora to see if I can get some natural insecticide that I can use... I found this .....
Tree of Life indeed! It is written as 100% plant based insecticide, fertiliser & what have you. Wow, all in 1 product! LOL... I sprayed on the little worm and they all curled up - just like the millipedes... so I think they died... hahah.... I went back this morning and so far, I did not see any traces of the small little worms..... & my chye sim survived another day of trial & tribulations! hurray...
Caulifower!
Yeap! I am trying to grow cauliflower in tropical Singapore!! LOL.... I sowed the seeds on Sunday and all sprouted except 1 a few days later... the little seedlings are so cute right? 4 petalled seedlings.. usually the seedlings are 2 petalled...
I grew them from this pack of seeds that I got from Cameron Highlands...
According to instructions, transplant 4 weeks after sowing and harvest 60 days after transplanting... so in total got to wait about 3 months! wow, that's a super long wait... LOL

Honeydew
I decided to mulch my honeydew seedlings ... I hope they will grow faster in this way.. I have seen it before with my own eyes when I was doing woofing in Japan... when mulched, they tend to grow faster than those unmulched! Hehehehe
I would have preferred to mulch more and with dried bamboo leaves but unfortunately I have no access to them.. I have to think how to get my hands on them...
Chye Sim Day 17
Oh wow, after I piled on fresh soil yesterday, suddenly my chye sim grew so much today! They definitely look like chye sim now!!
Almost half way to picking them to eat!!! Yum yum.. they sure look delicious.. hahaha

Chye Sim Day 16
My chye sim is growing long & thin stems... really got to pile on more soil for them.... will do so this afternoon.. hopefully no rain please! It has been raining the whole day and night ... save the trouble of watering :-)
My neighbour gave me stocks of the chye sim pods ... to extract the seeds so that i can have more chye sim later on....
Honeydew
I haven't seen my honeydew plants for 2 days in a row and suddenly today, my neighbour pointed to me quite a big fruitlet appearing near to the root area.. Wow, super happy!
It is even bigger than the first fruitlet that appears from ages ago! Wow, I hope it will continue to grow bigger so that I can have at least 1 honeydew for me to eat and share!! I hope I am wrong about big sister honeydew!!!
Tomato
Here's my neighbour's sole remaining tomato plant! It is starting to flower today!
She said she sprayed home made enzyme on the tomato plant the other day... maybe that's the secret to keeping the tomato alive!!
She planted 7-8 more seedlings today.... in different spots... hopefully they will all bloom & fruit! I am waiting for mine to grown a little bigger before I transplant them to the styrofoam box!!!!!

Chilli padi
Chilli padi is doing very well... flowering & fruiting continuously... doing so well that I think I am not giving it as much as attention as compared to the rest of my plants...
