Kang Kang - new plot

My new kang kong plot is infested with white flies - need to do up the trap within these few days... wondering if that will help at all!!!! Somehow I feel this lot is not growing as well as the pioneer batch....

My chiku tree really like no change at all since day 1!! OMG... wondering how long they need to adapt....

My new plot of okras doing well except for the worms! Kill at least 1 worm each morning!!

French Bean - Fruit!

Finally!! Just when I was feeling hopeless about my french beans!! Out popped a few baby french beans this morning!! This is what I would call MIRACLE! LOL

Styrofoam boxes

Cleared 2 of my styrofoam boxes too.... Buried some kitchen garbage into both of them yesterday.. gotta wait for about 2 weeks or so before I plant anything so that there is sufficient time for decomposition to take place.... Will use one of them to try growing tomoatoes again.. the other one will be used to grow vegetables.

Chilli Padi & Capsicum

I realised that chilli padi and capsicum plants are very susceptible to white flies and mealy bugs.... So for this plot, they are already infested as they are next to the kang kong bush which is next to the sweet potato plot!! Sigh... Thinking of killing them all and re grow them.... or grow something else...

Kang Kong

My first kang kong bush.. I harvested all the leaves this morning... wondering if I should continue to keep this plot or remove all the roots and then decide what to plant... think think think... This plot is just next to my neighbour's sweet potato plot which is infested with white flies. So to continue to grow vegetables decently, I gotta think of how to get rid of them... which means headache!! LOL

Periwinkle

My periwinkle seems to be doing so well, even without much care! Aiyo I wish my vegetables are doing as well...

Ha Mi Gua

My ha mi gua plants are getting bigger ... But very reluctant to move them to the plot as I am sure they will be attacked by pests in no time!!

Cherry tomato

Finally my first cherry tomato is turning red.. unfortunately, this cherry tomato is half eaten by bugs....

Papaya

I have 2 papaya plants in my old plot that is going reasonably well.... But they are too close to one and another and also very close to my neighbour's trellis of cucumbers... Hopefully they will not fight when they grow

Ladybug - mating!

Hahaha.. spotted a pair of ladybugs mating in my chilli padi plant..!

Watermelon

This morning, suddenly a lot of flowers bloomed... I hand pollinated 2 female flowers today.. Hopefully they will turn to a fruit... Out of the 6 that I hand pollinated, only 1 has successfully grown big.

Winged bean

Again, the flowers of my winged beans dropped off..... so strange leh... could it be due to the ants? I see a lot of ants climbing up and down the plant .. same with the french beans.. massive attack of the ants (big n small)... but I dunno how to get rid of the ants.. stick cinnamon stick also no use.....

Passion fruit - new trellis

Made a new high trellis for my passion fruit... Guess when you are not in the mood to build one, it really drags you and the outcome sucks! LOL ... So far, I have always enjoyed building trellises... Guess the low morale of late really kicks in...

French Bean

Hmmm.... tonnes of flowers .. flowers keep dropping.... wondering why?????? I googled about hand pollination for french bean - apparently they self pollinate... why why why???

Cucumber

The first female flower that I spotted last week is not going to blossom afterall.. wondering why? It has turned somewhat yellowish this morning and I am certain it will drop off in no time.... Noticed that the cucumber plants grew quite aggressively for the past 2 days... They are going to overwhelm my winged beans soon.. Still no other female flower in sight!

Potted chilli padi

Chopped off all the leaves and top branches of my potted chilli padi this morning in a fit of 'sian-ness'.... Tonnes of flowers but no fruits... Tonnes of white flies making the underside of their leaves their home! Stem cutted a sprig of my rosemary, potted it and put it next to the chilli padi - hopefully the smell of the rosemary will deter those white flies when the new shoots come out!

Sweet Corn

My sweet corn seedlings growing very tall now... out of the 4 that I sowed the first time round, only 2 sprouted so I added in another 2 more a few days ago.. Hoping to grow at least 4 of them together so that there is a high chance of getting a corn! They need cross pollination apparently... nature can be puzzling... the way they grow and process of producing fruit...

Bayam - Red & Green

My potted red & green bayam - still so tiny! I wonder how long it will take for them to grow bigger!! It has already been like about 30 days already... those growing in the plot, some of them already eaten up by worms.

Brinjal - botak

A few of my potted brinjals - because they were infested with small creatures, their leaves were cut off... leaving them very botak... quarantined them to a corner so as not to spread to others .. but it doesn't seem to help la! Those bugs are horrendous - mass invasion.. sigh

Worms worms worms!!!

Looking at my holes in my vegetables every morning makes me sigh!! How to get rid of the worms!!!! They are eating up most of my seedlings!!!!! OMG

Cauliflower

Finally! Can see the tiny wee bit of the cauliflower forming... I sure hope they will grow bigger!

More marigolds

Bought 2 more pots of marigolds yesterday... want to plant them directly into the soil but undecided where to... for now, I just left them in the pots together with my edamame.... only fear is the attack of the millipedes! They are everywhere now!!

French beans - shrivelled leaves

Yesterday, I sprayed the ANT insecticide and guess what?! Horrors, this morning, a lot of the leaves shrivelled up ... sigh!!! Guess can only spray on them once a week.... even some of the flowers dropped off!! Argh....

Cucumber - female flower

Wondering why this female flower has not opened but it has already turned downwards? Or did it open when I was not around to see it? so strange....

Cinnamon stick on my brinjal

This particular brinjal plant seems to attract tonnes of ants! Decided to stick some cinnamon sticks to the branches as I read that ants do not like anything that smell pungent! Helps a little wee bit only.. there are still ants crawling around...

Winged bean - flowering soon?

If this is the flower of the winged bean, it is huge! compared to the other beans like long beans and french beans... looking forward to its bloom.. apparently the flowers are edible raw!

Sprouted!! But concerned about them if I were to transplant them to the plot... sigh...

Cooked Edamame

From garden to my plate! Boiled the edamame for about 10mins, add some himalayan salt = yummy food!

Mint + Pineapple Juice Mix

Picked a few mint leaves from my pot and juice it with some leftover pineapple in the fridge.. yum yum... superb tasting detox drink!

Compost to soil

The compost that was made from kitchen garbage - I have 2 bags of them this morning so I put 1 in empty plot next to 2 of my winged beans and the other in the tiny plot next to the french beans. I hope these compost will not destroy my plants!!! Keeping my fingers crossed!!!
