Chiku

Picked one of my chiku this morning as it is turning a little soft.. better picked it before it dropped and feed the slugs, snails and millipedes!

Mango!!

1 of the 3 mangoes dropped this morning!! It is still very hard but the colour has turned slightly yellowish! Just gotta wait a few more days before I consume it! I sure hope it is going to be super sweet and juicy! Can't wait!

Compost Grown Cucumber

It started out as an experiment.. because those past cucumbers that I have grown directly in the ground.. the yield was not good or the plant did not grow well at all... full of pests and lots of stunted growth.... So decided to try using full compost to grow - in a pot of course... So, it seems that the plant looks so much healthier.. more offshoots... more female flowers...

Fertilisers for Fruit Trees

I didn't know there are 2 types of fertilisers for fruit trees... 1 to promote flowering and another to promote fruiting (ie. with flowers not converting to fruits)..... of late, that's what's happening to my passion fruits! Shall see if this works!

Cai Xin Seedlings

Neighbours gave me some cai xin seedlings - another variety as it has jagged edges!

Po Po Fruit

I think this is the seedlings of the po po fruit! Looks like passion fruit! Yes, there are 3!

Citrus!

This is one of those citrus plant - lime, lemon or orange .. it just popped up out of nowhere! So tiny and it has a flower! Nice surprise!

Passion Fruit Sting - Culprit!

Found the culprit of all of my passion fruit stings! This little creature has a spike at its backside which it uses to pierce through the skin of my growing passion fruits!!!

So, I had no choice but to plastic bag those new ones that came up! Extra work but I guess no choice!

Pomelo

Neighbour gave me a pomelo seedling which she grew from seed! It will take ages before they will fruit anything! LOL

Red Okra

Sowed all the seeds in the pack of red okra! Of late, nothing seems to sprout no matter how many I sowed! Bad weather? It just turned 'summer' and its really hot & super humid!

Tomato Seedlings

Plenty! Sprouted on its own! They sprout easily but they don't grow well at all! Sigh

Garbage Enzyme

Made another bottle of garbage enzyme! Have started to spray my plants with enzyme again! More convinced that if enzymes are good for humans, it should be good for plants too!! It will take about 3 months to 'ripen'!

Bittergourd

Another 2 new bittergourd seedlings growing in my plot! So far, my record is only 1 bittergourd per plant and they will die on me! I really envy those who can grow so many in a vine!! Wondering why I am so 'fortunate'!

Recycling - Concrete Slabs

Someone discarded these in our bin centre and they are exactly what I had wished for to do my raised bed!! But they are so HEAVY to move!! It took me a while to carry about 12 of them to my garden!! I wished I had the strength to take all!

Sugar Peas

Out of 3 that sprouted, 1 died! Not sure of reason.. I hope the other 2 will grow well!

Roselle

Finally! After months and months of waiting, I am going to harvest some roselle! I really missed eating my roselle jam! Right now, my garden is full of Roselle plants - I have more than 10 of them growing!!

Longan

Finally, my longan tree has grown up a fair bit! The trunk has thickened a fair bit too! I need to trim its top so that there will be branches out from the side.... I want to maintain it as a small tree! It has been about 1.5 years from it sprouted! I hope by another 1.5 years, I will have something to eat!! LOL

Ang Mo Liu Lian

I trimmed off the top of one of my ang mo liu lian plant.... I hope it will do ok?

Passion Fruits

Of late, my passion fruits are not doing good! Plenty of flowers but not many turned into fruits.

When they do turn into fruits, they get stung by some flies!

And when they do get bigger, they dropped prematurely!! Sigh!

Kailan

All 3 growing pretty well! Hope they won't taste too fibrous!

Papaya Tree

Is this a female or male???? I am clue-less again...

For my lunch!

Picked some Ma Ni Cai for lunch! Cooked in ikan bilis soup and they are awesome! Doesn't taste any bitterness at all - those market bought ones really taste bitter to me!

Big Chilli

This is the ONLY big chilli that I have in the garden.. Many flowers but most did not turn into fruit! Now, most of them are not growing well as they are infested with white flies and aphids!

Morning Rain!

Glad for the heavy morning rain today!! Means I don't have to water my plots!! I am back to bucket watering as the water hose is not working!! Argh.... So every little rain that comes along, I truly appreciate it.. of course, except the little weeds that comes with the rain!! LOL

Guava Seedlings!

Only a few weeks ago that I realised all these seedlings are guava!

Decided to pluck out 1 and grow in a pot!

Citronella

Got a citronella from an eco farm in Kahang, Johor! It looks exactly like lemongrass. You can only differentiate when you picked the leaves and smell it! I sure hope it will help me to repel the many mosquitoes in the garden!!

Mango - Blossoms again!

My mango tree is going to flower again! Wow, I wonder if it is due to the fruiting fertiliser that I have been giving it once in a while? The other 3 unripe mangoes are still hanging there!

Sweet Potato Leaves

They are simply overwhelming my 2 banana plants!!

Sugar Peas

The first lot of sugar peas that I have grown all died on me!! They sprouted all so nicely but just somehow did not grow after that.. I am hoping this 2nd lot will be better!

Plantain

Plenty of these in the garden - growing as weeds!! But they are medicinal.. if only I know how to use them more effectively...

Harvest Today 8 June

Finally a ripe passion fruit! Haven't eaten one for ages from my garden!

Kailan?

Sowed the seeds of this vegetable - Kailan I think! - before I left for my long trip! Frankly I couldn't remember what seeds it was and it sure looks like kailan!

Brinjal

My brinjal plants are slowing dying one by one! Guess I gotta grow another new batch.... There is this brinjal plant that used to be growing so well but a couple of days ago, I noticed the leaves of the plant are gone over night. I checked for signs of dropped leaves but found none!! As I was clearing the weeds around the plot and loosening the soil, I noticed an unusual thing that is green in colour and totally blends into the environment it was in! Holly Molly! It was a giant green caterpillar!! This is the biggest ever caterpillar I have ever seen in the garden!! No wonder all the leaves are gone!!! It really scared the wits out of me for the next couple of days when I was in the garden!

Papaya Fruits

My tiny little papaya fruits have been dropping off the trunk of the papaya tree! Neighbour said that its because the roots are not rooted deep enough into the soil! Really, I wonder? Hm... I sure hope not because the depth of the soil is limited in the garden!

Cleared a pot of lemongrass left by a moving-out-of-estate neighbour and used it to grow a papaya instead. See if it will grow well.

Banana

My sole remaining 2 banana plants seem to be taking a long time to grow ... some parts of the leaves are turning a bit yellowish which is worrying too... I hope they can survive...

Kiwi

My kiwi plant appearing more and more like the kiwi fruit itself - its hairy-ness & all.... So far, it doesn't appear to be a vine (like my grapevine) yet! It is more like a tree (like my fig)

3 hanging mangos

Still there after my long break! Glad that they are well hidden so the birds don't pick on them!

Cucumber

My sole cucumber plant is not growing well either!! Nothing seems to grow well these days!! See the deformed cucumber produced by it....

Grew another new cucumber plant - sowed the seed before I left and it sprouted nicely... transplanted to the pot in the garden.. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it will do well!

Sugar Peas

Out of the 4 that I transplanted before I went away, only 1 is left!! Maybe it is the hot and humid weather that is killing them...
